The New Season

April 12, 2009, by Homme De Sept-Iles

Maybe I know too much about this team and not enough about hockey.  i’ve gotten so close by watching all the games, reviewing the films, writing and charting that my perspective is inside the mountain.  In a cavern far from the sky’s view that other fans seem to occupy.  It gives them objectivity.

The minutae gathered from the singular pursuit of one team is at a cost.  Either I quintuple my viewing by adding many more teams to my schedule or I delve even deeper into the mountain.

On the other hand, I certainly know the in-game rhythms of this team better than perhaps any team I’ve followed or worked with.

All this means that having watched all 82 games, I think I have a worse chance of predicting an outcome in the Bruins series than if I’d occasionally checked the standings and been a newsprint fan as in my much younger years (with weekly Saturday night games, of course).

Bonne chance a tous.
