Who Should Stay, Who Should Go

(Written shortly after Guy Carbonneau’s Firing)

First, don’t be shocked if… Guy Carbonneau ends up coaching Pittsburgh

Guys Who Have To Go
Guillaume Latendresse: Good chance he will stay, though.
Christopher Higgins: Better near the end but not good enough.
Carey Price: Gainey will never trade him.
Sergei Kostitsyn: Maybe should get one more chance.
Matt D’Agostini:  Not a Canadien player.
Gregory Stewart: Not a Canadien.
Andrei Kostitistyn:  Wrong town, wrong demeanour.

Keepers
Saku Koivu: He will retire a Canadien.
Thomas Plekanec:  Hard work not an issue. Line chemistry is.
Tom Kostopolous:  Great work ethic.
Mathieu Dandenault:  Right price.  Right attitude.
Francis Bouillon:  Right price.  Right attitude.

Mathieu Schneider:  Still need him.
Roman Hamrlik: Might move anyway.
Josh Gorges: Improving every week.
Maxim Lapierre: Out of the dawghawse.
Georges Laraque: Still need him.
Patrice Brisebois: Right price.  Right skills.  Still has gas.

Alex Tanguay: Best off-season addition.
Robert Lang: Still of value.
Max Pacioretty: Groomed for stardom.
Andrei Markov: Team MVP
Jaroslav Halak: Tradeable in Gainey’s view.

One More Year, One More Chance
Mike Komisarek: Price tag may be too high.
Alex Kovalev: Needs to stay positive.
Ryan O’Byrne: Lots to learn.
