NHL Continues to Insult Fans’ Intelligence

Do these numbers show clearly that Crosby is superior? Of course not.
The backing article by NHL shill Adam Kimelman suggests that Crosby is magnificent.

How do you come up with the statement that Crosby has been without question the best player in the series. If you ask me him and Ovechkin have been pretty even. In my opinion Ovechkin is even better. Crosby has one more point, and Ovechkin has about 10 more hits or so.
In my opinion, Ovechkin has a much bigger impact on the game, due to his hitting and aggresiveness.
I’m getting very tired with this NHL and their constant hype of CROSBY CROSBY CROSBY…. There is a reason he is booed all around the league, and do not tell me it is because he is a great player. I do not here Ovechkin and Malkin and Datsyuk booed like Crosby is.
Besides the hype, which I could deal with, the NHL blatantly favors their star players during games, and it has come to the point where games are unwatchable without getting extremely upset over 5 times a game over terrible callls… but that argument is for another day…
AGREE This is why a lot of people have such a deep seated resentment towards the Penguins. Yeah, i know there are other reasons, but this constant shoving Sid in everyone’s face is sad. I’m a Penguins fan and i even get sick of this crap.
THIS STUFF has gotta stop I’m a Syd fan, but this comparison crap has gotta stop. They are both great players, but their games are different. The media is trying to make us bite. Let it go already!

HOW CAN someone say that ‘without question’ sidney crosby is the best in this series? Ovechkin has one off game and people forget that he was dynamite in the first two games. I contribute the off night to gonchar’s injury. Ovechkin didn’t mean to harm gonch so he was clearly shaken up by it. also, penguins fans, don’t even compare the crosby hat trick to ovechkin’s. sure you can say that goals are goals… whatever, but the manner in which ovechkin does it is absolute magic. i expect a capitals storm tonight!
Really, how long can a league continue to insist on their special sid spin cycle without creating a critical level of ill will with its customers? Probably forever, I would guess. They’ll keep coming back. But is it good business?
The NHL and all other high-profile pro leagues are in the entertainment business. At least from their perspective that’s what it is. And they are also clear that they are not in the truth business. The sports media that serve these leagues are also, for the most part, not in the truth business. They can’t be too truthful or they will be forbidden from accessing the players whose quotes they so desperately need in order to save themselves from actually writing interesting stories. Quotes save creative energy.
So if the fans, media and league aren’t going to do anything to change this spin game, who could? Why, Super Sid himself. He could hold a press conference. He could mention it in interviews. He could say it in an autobiography or in a blog. Loud and clear: I’m not the NHL’s best player. And please stop saying so.
I doubt we’ll see that day. But the biggest loser in all of this is Crosby himself. He gets booed in arenas and he is disrespected by those who perceive he is being anointed unfairly. Something like a favourite son. But not every favourite son asks for and wants that specialized treatment. Maybe this one should speak up. Before his feelings get hurt too much more. Before he becomes a cultural reference point and enters urban dictionaries as a mocked figure.
Crosbation: The unfair anointing of a chosen one and purposeful misrepresentation of this individual’s qualities or talents for the purposes of profit.
