The Diachronic Barber Pole Observations of a Recovering Hockey Exile

Cammalleri Got Kovalev’s Assist

Montreal 4 at Toronto 3 (OT)

Hell is an enemy arena.

I suffered the Leaf fans tonight. I thought I’d never enter that building on a Leaf night. Bagpipes blatted, montages made kings of dead lions, an anthem brayed, I took off my KMFDM toque. Montreal tied the game in the third. And in overtime, Gorges swept in. Scored. The ACC was a hole in a drum. The Habs roared.  On the ice, too.  I listened. I watched. Kovalev’s once-invincible song, a cold and sweet ruler made note while a joyous woman in front of me waved his #27 t-shirt all the while. Nos Glorieux had won in overtime. And I managed a smile.
