November 18, 2009, by Homme De Sept-Iles
Pour Toujours…Les Canadiens debuted on Monday, November 16th, 2009 to an audience of over 14,000 at the Bell Centre in Montreal. Directed by Sylvain Archambault, the fiction film is based on a screenplay by Jacques Savoie.
Cameos by former Canadiens Saku Koivu, Christopher Higgins, Francis Bouillon and Mike Komisarek are all part of this riveting drama which focuses on a negligent father, his 17-year old hockey-prodigy son and a 10-year old boy awaiting a kidney transplant (played with aplomb by young star Antoine Ecuyer).
Montreal Mystique discussed Archambault’s thoughts on directing, casting, the challenges in filming a hockey-based film, and his continued passion for the Montreal Canadiens.
Through the conversation we discover that Archambault’s respect for Sergei Kostitsyn as one of the most creative Habs, his favourite Canadiens season ever and his thoughts on his next film, which features the story of Robert Piché, the Air Transat pilot who safely landed a damaged Airbus plane in 2001, saving over 300 lives.
Archambault spent the nineties producing commercials including spots for Coca-Cola, Volkswagen, Molson, Labatt and Ericsson and hundreds of others before moving to directing films full-time in 2001.
Pour Toujours…Les Canadiens is subtitled in English and playing in theatres all over Quebec.
