“As for discipline – it’s important, but sort of over-rated. The more important virtue for a writer, I believe, is self-forgiveness. Because your writing will always disappoint you. Your laziness will always disappoint you,” says Gilbert, author of Eat, Pray, Love.

Maybe I should have been born in 1949, instead.  Listed here are the seasons that Jean Béliveau was on a Stanley Cup winner.  And because I respect my readers so much, I’ll leave the fun of counting the silver up to you.

Beliveau Cups Won

1955–56
1956–57
1957–58
1958–59
1959–60
1964–65
1965–66
1967–68
1968–69
1970–71

Oh.  And Jean Béliveau was 40 when he retired.  He retired following Montreal’s 70-71 Cup win over the Chicago Black Hawks.  Yes, those Black Hawks.  It’s spelt Chicago Blackhawks these days.  And Saskatchewan Roughriders is one word while Ottawa Rough Riders was two.  Yes, they should name the next Ottawa team the Rough Riders.  I don’t care.
