The Four Players and the Manager
April 1, 2011, by Homme de Sept-Îles
adapted from Aesop’s Fables
A manager used to prowl about a rink in which four players used to skate. Many a time he tried to attack them; but whenever he came near they turned their tails to one another, so that whichever way he approached them he was met by the sticks of one of them. At last, however, they fell a-quarrelling among themselves, and each went off to practice alone in a separate corner of the rink. Then the manager attacked them one by one and soon made an end of all four.
Moral: United we stand, divided we fall.
