     they were machines
        we thought
       little, emoted
           much red
ours in paint and orr white
           theirs in blood
           & "commie" gold

insect helmets buzzed
        flipped voop voop
          six legged lines
scarlet circles we couldn't see
     like elephants on the horizon
         our quebec ontario eyes
         weren't trained weren't ready

black machines
   shot engines
   bolt shot engines
         red rivulets
          lined parts in blood
      crank bell and shaft
     buck red machines
        silver ravines
      the balderis boots in gold

True, yes. The Summit Series, in looking back, is not a shining moment for Canada. Why that entire 1972 CCCP squad isn’t in the Hockey Hall of Fame is beyond me; they were among two prominent forces of the time that changed the game radically.

The other one emerged in 1976 on his last real go-’round. That is the only Canada team that matters to me.

The entire team is a good idea. You really don’t like any of the other Canada editions? What about Salt Lake?
